over due update

Hello fans here we go again. It’s been over a month since my last update and I am sorry to say I have had time to write here but haven’t. Sad I know. Well I’m trying to make it up by giving you some info on all fronts with me.

First, thanks to everyone who sent me Christmas wishes here in Afghani-land they were much appreciated. Everything is going well here, I’m still losing weight and trying to get in great shape, and I think it’s working. I’m nearly through the Insanity Program and let me just say ouch! Pictures to come once I’m finished. Flying is also going well. My knowledge and experience are growing and I’m loving what I do more and more. Several of my war buddies are growing closer and we are making lasting bonds that will probably last a lifetime. For those of you who know me, I try to be a spiritual guy and in the past several weeks I have been able to reconnect with that part of my life. When I am able to stay close to my God, everything seems to work a little better. I still haven’t been to the promotion board yet, but I think the road blocks are running thin so I should be going soon, then I will finally be SGT Pew. and that is an accomplishment I plan to celebrate. All in all the deployment is nearly giving me what I hoped to get, at least on paper. But on to happier things.

Second, Transition Man! The Free day went over well, we gave away nearly 700 copies world wide and have had a few good sales from that. It has also spawned two good reviews and hopefully that’s just the tip of the ice berg. My publisher has been working hard and has gotten us a new printer for on demand so hopefully prices will reflect and we can sell a few more books. Griffin’s story is going to continue as I have finished the second book in the series, and it is going through the editing process. With sales of part one being so slow, i doubt that it will get published anytime soon. However, when I get it all done, I plan to have a few pre-readers to get feed back and reviews, then we’ll see. Otherwise, please tell friends and family about part one and get them a copy, the more the word is spread the more books will sell and then…I should be able to get Twisted Souls into print. Don’t forget that everyone who got a new E-Reader for Christmas needs a digital copy of T-Man, only $3.50 and I do believe we are planning another free day on Amazon, I will update as I can. Lastly, when I get home in a few months I’m going to push hard on promotion so right now I am planning a book signing at a few places between Clarksville TN where FT Campbell is and also in Nashville if I can pull it off, again…more to come on that.

Thirdly- True Immortals.
Believe it or not, I’m Probably over half way done with this novel. I still plan to publish this next summer. At this point I’m getting into a writing flow and that is where a lot of my free time has gone. (Which is why it’s been so long since I have blogged.) The story has gone in new directions that weren’t apart of my original idea for the story, but i think its turning out fantastic. There is certainly a lot more action than I thought possible, and that is making things move along. Look for more info about release dates this summer. I am going to start working on a cover for this book and will get some pics up asap.

As for anything on my mind, I have actually discovered that having a blog and facebook page and website to maintain is very difficult. I have a full time job, and yet my passion in writing gives me another full time job on top of that. Sometimes I feel overwhelmed by the amount of work that actually goes into being a writer. (I think Author is a term that doesn’t quite fit me yet, but I’m working on it.) I think my writing style is one that people relate to and like to read and if i could get some more exposure i would be able to make a real go of this writing thing for a career of my own. However at this time being a soldier and also having mouths to feed its hard to dedicate as much time as is really required to make a true effort in being a full time author. Time management is the hardest part, it seems one thing always over laps into the other and the thing that has suffered has been my personal time with God and my family. Luckily that is a remediable state and in the future I’m going to make sure that I do all that is required of me to be the best father and husband I can be. Being a best selling author, or a super soldier means nothing overall without the ones I love.

As a result, I had a goal to write 2-3 books a year, and I think that will have to be amended to as many as I can considering the circumstances. regardless of how the next year turns out, you will see probably two novels from this author and I will certainly be working on Griffin Chronicles 3 and True Immortals 2, whether they get done or not I don’t know, but I know this, I won’t miss one play that my son is in, or any sporting event that any of my children are in, or a concert, or anything that they are doing because they are my most important accomplishment and investing the time to make sure they know that I know it is all that matters to me.

So, writing is a priority for me, but my family is my main priority. And that as has been said by the almighty Bruce is how the cookie crumbles. Until next time, you stay classy planet Earth! and play to win.
